"Lend Me Your Ears"

Mama Love Easter!

Mama loved Easter! She enjoyed dyeing easter eggs and
she especially loved to see her children (and
grand-children) hunt easter eggs in the backyard.

Well, during Easter of 1958, Mama and Daddy were in
the middle of a renovation to add the current kitchen.
I was about 9 years old, Barbie was 8, Mike was 4 and
Joy was 2. I remember it was a rainy and cold Easter
Sunday. The kitchen room was incomplete, the walls
(sheet rock) had not been installed yet and the 2x4
studs were all exposed.

Well, Mama knew we could not go outside and hunt
easter eggs because of the rainy weather. So she dyed
easter eggs and hid them all around the unfinished
kitchen, even in the walls next to the exposed 2x4s.
It was such a memorable Easter and she made an
otherwise gloomy day a lot of fun for us kids. I'll
always have fond memories of this.
