UPDATE ON THE NORTHEAST LAKEVIEW JUNIOR COLLEGE
(On the site of the old Kruse farm)
Clayton, Daddy & I met with the college president Dr. Reno and 2 other college executives (Dir of Community & Public Relations and Dir of College & Grants Development) the other day. Everything went very well – much better than any of us expected Dr. Reno is a very personable & "down to earth" kind of guy. We met for 3 1/2 hours including lunch. They were all very interested in our story & in briefing us on their plans. They gave us literature, plans, caps, etc.We gave them a package with a lot of info including a timeline chart, layout of the property, pictures, deeds, etc. Their boundaries exactly match the original Engelhart property boundaries (251 acres except for an added sliver of land on the south side where Kitty Hawk bends south - the Kruse property line was straight toward the west). We exchanged names & phone #s & plan to maintain a continuing communication. It sounds like they will do something in recognition of the Kruse family. The school will open partially built in the fall of 2008. I think they want us there.
I plan to keep in contact with them without being too much of a pest. There are a few loose ends to deal with and I think we can give them other pertinent information.
Everyone's ideas are important so let me know what you think.
I'll try to keep everyone informed as things develop – watch the Kruse Website
Thanks to Clayton for making the contacts & setting the whole thing up.
Attached are the plans for the campus. The old farm house, barn & other buildings would be about where Bldg 4 (Performing Arts) and Bldg 5 (Fine Arts) are shown.
Thanks, Clay
